The dynamic duo husband-wife team of Jonathan Langsam and Rosie Hernandez have taken the popularity of Middle Eastern foods to a whole new level with this Kosher fast-casual restaurant combining both Israeli and Mexican foods. Cuisine\, family\, an inclusive community\, and tradition are most important to them. They are keeping the traditional foods alive with a vibrant twist. Jonathan’s family had kosher restaurants in NYC in the early 1900s so the decision to open his own restaurant was rooted in heritage and culture. Just in time for Hanukah\, learn to make latkes\, the potato pancake typically eaten during the holiday’s eight nights. Mixed with roasted corn\, cilantro and onions\, chef will teach us the magic that makes these crisp\, gluten free and vegan Mexican latkes taste so good. A quick demonstration on how to make a customer favorite\, avocado hummus to top our latkes. Jon and Rosie treat us to a glass of sangria to toast the holiday season. Using only Kosher meats\, watch as chef teaches the secrets to Ma Bett’s shredded brisket – ropa vieja style\, Zhug mayonnaise\, roasted tomato salsa\, red onion\, and cilantro make for a delicious bowl. The restaurant uses only Kosher products prompting the use of plant-based “cheese” making it also a vegan favorite. Optional additional $5 to enjoy the “juice of the day” – delicious combinations of fresh pressed fruits and vegetables. Sample a coconut macaroon for a sweet send off. This location has not only a kosher\, vegan and gluten free following but is the local favorite of many foodies for almost 10 years! Take a culinary tour of Thailand\, Singapore and Malaysia to discover the flavors of South-East Asian cuisine. Inspired by Bangkok\, proprietor Navjot Arora and his executive chef will share their expertise to acquaint us with the balanced flavors of sweet\, salty\, sour\, and bitter. Then a tutorial on a few special dishes starting with attendees’ hand crafting their own Pork Momos – handmade steamed pork dumplings with chili sambal and fragrant soy sauce to dip. Our chefs educate us on Thai “heat” as they explain the different chilies and spices used to enhance various dishes making them not only spicy but incredibly flavorful. Learn to make a few special dishes starting with a Spicy Glass Noodle salad – shrimp\, lime juice\, shallots\, mint\, cilantro\, scallions\, Thai bird chilies and Thai style chicken satay – skewered marinated chicken strips\, peanut sauce\, cucumber onion ajat (quick pickle). One of the best bakeries in Westchester and the BOW awards to prove it\, you can say that Susan O’Keefe knows a thing or two about baking. Her award-winning bakery is a lovely inviting spot to visit and enjoy delicious treats. This seasoned baker will take the hard part out of building your own gingerbread centerpiece. Our host will have our houses built and ready to decorate. All gingerbread “house parts” are made and baked on the premises. Learn the recipe for “real-deal” royal icing made with egg whites and sugar that is used to hold the house together and adhere your candy treats. Reminiscent of childhood\, grab a friend and “play house” as Susan provides all the edible decorations for you to make your house whimsical and delicious. After class taste some gingerbread cookies with a cup of coffee or tea. Carefully take home your masterpiece packed for travel to enjoy this holiday season.
