Institutional Advancement

Institutional Advancement supports the College’s mission through resource development, grants management support and compliance assistance. The office provides strategic, value-added resources to help the college implement evidence-based practices that support student success, institutional innovation, and excellence. Institutional Advancement facilitates applications for external funding from state, federal, corporate, and foundation sources (grants development) and assists in the process of assuring that resources received adhere to funder’s guidelines. Institutional Advancement has raised and supports millions of dollars of supplemental resources for the college.

The guiding principles behind our work is to:

  1. increase student success and promote academic excellence
  2. build institutional capacity and
  3. be accountable for results.

Dr. Laurie Miller McNeill, Director of Institutional Advancement, leads the office. She has over 25 years directing strategic initiatives, research and evaluation, institutional capacity building and organizational development, with over 20 years expertise in grants development, management and implementation specific to community college settings. Reporting to the President of the College, she ensures that the colleges priorities and mission are fulfilled through external funding and provides support for college compliance with funders goals and objectives. She has a PhD in Sociology and Educational Policy from Columbia University.

Laura Barrett Hansen, Director of Grants Management, Support and Compliance supports the college by helping project directors and the college with post-award support with reporting, implementation, and navigating college and grant policies and procedures. She helps grant-funded projects and project directors achieve the goals set for each project. She has a Masters Degree in Labor Relations from Rutgers University.
