We offer financial support for qualified students to cover scholarships for certification programs and individual courses, as well as financial assistance with expenses directly related to training such as books, course materials and certification exam fees. AWAH’s Pathway to Workforce Scholarship

AWAH’s Pathway to Workforce Scholarship

The American Women of African Heritage was founded in 2002 by a group of African American women in Westchester County. AWAH seeks to empower women and girls of African heritage. These awards are given to Black women returning to school to pursue a workforce certification focusing on market trends and employer needs. Besides healthcare, awards should be considered for students enrolled in IT, advanced manufacturing, construction, HVAC.

Displaced Homemakers/Project Transition

Displaced Homemakers/Project Transition

This intensive program provides qualified students the opportunity to learn current, marketable skills to return to the workforce. There is no cost to eligible participants (single parents, widowed, divorced, separated, or married with disabled or unemployed spouse). All applicants must be unemployed or underemployed and must provide proof of Displaced Homemaker status according to the New York State Department of Labor guidelines. The Metallica Scholars is a workforce education initiative that provides direct support to community colleges, to enhance their career and technical education programs. These programs provide training and services to students who are looking to enter a traditional trade or other applied learning program. The Metallica Scholars Initiative at Westchester Community College awards scholarships to help students achieve certifications in the Advanced Manufacturing field.

Westchester-Putnam Career Center Network

Westchester Putnam Career Center Network

The Westchester-Putnam Career Center Network (the “Network”) is comprised of four Career Centers in White Plains, Carmel, Mount Vernon, and Peekskill staffed primarily by Westchester County, Putnam County, and New York State Department of Labor employees. The Network also includes Career Center Partners who work in cooperation with Career Center staff and each other to provide expanded services. These Career Center Partners play a critical role in helping the Network meet the needs of job seekers, youth, and employers and therefore, achieving the requirements under WIOA and the Westchester-Putnam Workforce Development Board’s Strategic and Local Plans.
The Career Center Partners are primary deliverers of service to Network customers, in many cases, co-locating in the Career Centers.
