Apple Award 2024

The Viking News

The Viking News won third place in the Best College Newspaper category at the Apple Awards on March 16 at the Marriott Marquis in New York. Competing against larger, well-funded journalism programs, The Viking News stood out despite its smaller team and independent funding. The last win was in 2018, but the team remained active through the pandemic, publishing consistently and attending the College Media Association (CMA) Conference. The CMA, the nation’s largest collegiate media organization, awards the Apple Awards annually to outstanding student media. This recognition highlights The Viking News’ dedication and resilience in student journalism.
