College Transcripts
All prerequisites must be met before a student can take a course. Visiting, non-matriculated students who completed a required prerequisite with a grade of C or better at another college may submit an official college transcript to the Registrar’s Office OR may show an unofficial college transcript at the time of registration. Unofficial transcripts may be shown either in-person or by email (see below).
- To register in-person for a course requiring a prerequisite, visiting/non-matriculated students should bring their unofficial college transcript showing the prerequisite (or a copy of the appropriate ACT/SAT score, as required) to the Registrar’s Office in the Administration Building Rm. 107.
- To register by email for a course requiring a prerequisite, visiting/non-matriculated students should send an email to [email protected] – the email must include the student’s WCC student ID number as well as the name and class number of the course(s) that they are requesting to be registered for. Attached to the email, it is necessary to include a copy of the student’s unofficial transcript (or a copy of the appropriate ACT/SAT score, as required) that shows successful completion of the prerequisite. The copy must include the student’s name. If approval is given for the student to register for the course, the student will be able to log in to MyWCC and register him/herself for the course.
Placement Testing
Visiting/non-matriculated students will be required to take the College placement test only if they are:
- Registering for an English, Math, or Reading course that requires the placement test and they have not otherwise met the prerequisite requirements for the course OR
- Registering for another course that requires a certain ‘readiness’ level in English or Math and they have not completed this English or Math course.
In these cases when the placement test is required, only the relevant portion (English, Math, or Reading) is required, not the whole test. For additional information about the placement test and waivers/exemptions, please visit www.sunywcc.edu/testingcenter
