About SUNY

The State University of New York (SUNY), of which Westchester Community College is a part, is comprised of a total of 64 colleges and universities throughout the state, including 31 campuses that offer bachelor’s degree programs. By virtue of being a graduate from a SUNY community college with an Associate of Arts (A.A.) or Associate of Science (A.S.) degree, there are particular advantages outlined below which are guaranteed by The State University of New York.

Transfer Highlights

  • Students who graduate from a SUNY community college with an Associate of Arts (A.A.) or Associate of Science (A.S.) degree, are guaranteed admission to a four-year institution in The State University of New York.
  • Students who graduate from a SUNY community college with an Associate of Arts (A.A.) or Associate of Science (A.S.) degree have will receive credit for completed SUNY general education requirements.
  • Faculty across two and four-year colleges developed ‘SUNY Transfer Paths’ which describe the knowledge and skills students need to master in the first two years of study so that they are prepared to complete a bachelor’s degree in an additional two years of full-time study. This ensures that students who graduate from a SUNY community college with an Associate of Arts (A.A.) or Associate of Science (A.S.) degree and who have completed a Transfer Path and SUNY general education requirements can successfully complete a bachelor’s degree in a parallel program at a SUNY four-year institution.
  • Students who graduate from a SUNY community college with an Associate of Arts (A.A.) or Associate of Science (A.S.) degree receive up to 4 application fee waivers to SUNY campuses. Learn more about the application process by visiting the SUNY application website.
